Black Life, Red Planet explores the intersection of jazz and dance music, while speculating about our relationship to Mars as a celestial body outside of colonial projects and its history as being tied to the God of War (especially considering the current sociopolitical climate). The songs on this playlist present jazz as a through-line for all contemporary Black genres, and/or contemplate spirituality, Pan-African social ecology, and Black ontology.
