What have you been wearing on stage? Anything new you've been liking?

My shows are presented in the form of a surrealist art play or avant garde performance/installation so the the costume needs to reflect the character I’m portraying at the time. My most recent show was a Greek Tragedy in 3 Acts so I needed multiple looks to portray the different characters I wanted to represent. The first was a a sort of Greek goddess meets Marie Antoinette where I had my friend and Stylist, Stacey Ellen Rich create a look in white satin that could be easily taken off mid set to reveal the Queen of the underworld look that consisted of a 10 foot red inflatable skirt that flows through the air. The show before that was a play on an Oskar Schlemmer Bauhaus Theatre sculptural costume from the 1920’s that I constructed myself with paper, paint and plastic tubes from the hardware store. It looked spectacular.

Do you collaborate with anyone? A stylist? A friend?

geneva jacuzzi
Yes, recently I’ve been working with Stacy Ellen Rich who works with other fabulous artists like Ron Athey. She did the piece for the Greek performance and also the dress in Scene Ballerina and designed the jewelry on my album cover. I also do a lot of my own sculptural pieces because I’m a prop maker person but I dislike making costumes. I only do it when necessary. I’ve worked with Seth Pratt on a lot of my earlier videos and shows. He’s fabulous and does most of Brook Candy’s looks, Lizzo, etc. he did the grace Jones/ Keith Haring inspired bodysuit I toured with in 2018 and all of the insane Characters in my Dark Ages Odyssey.

Do you make any special pieces?

geneva jacuzzi
I suppose my looks are all comprised of special pieces. I’ve never worn anything that resembles normal clothes on stage. But like I mentioned earlier, I don’t love to do my own costume making. I only do it when my idea is so weird, I can’t find anyone to do it for me (or at least last minute on a tight budget) The ideas always come last minute and I construct out of necessity to fit the character. I’m always open to working with designers who are down to go full on. My dream is to get to a place where I can work with all different types of designers on these projects. I’m working extra hard to be able to facilitate opportunities for new collaborations. It’s so much fun!
