Pluggnb Primer
A genre forever tied to the iconic producer tag of the Beatpluggs collective on Soundcloud – pluggnb merges the bouncy trap sonics of plugg music (see Playboi Carti - Broke Boi) with the ethereal chords of early 2000s RnB. The term entered the mainstream vocabulary by way of a smash remix of Lil Uzi Vert’s “Watch This” but has been brewing in the underground for years. It’s eventual blowup on TikTok brought us breakout artists like Summrs, Joeyy and more. Laden with lovesick VST presets and huge 808s – cute and sanguine instrumentals clash against rough cut and stammering vocals in a sublime Gen-Z hotpot –
