What have you been wearing on stage? What have you been liking?
Jemina Pearl (@byopband)
I move around a lot on stage so I like to wear mostly dresses because it allows a lot of freedom. I just got these over the knee black patent boots which have become my favorite. I've been wearing them almost every night on tour.

Do you collaborate with anyone? A stylist? A friend?
jemina
My mother is a seamstress so I've had her make some pieces for me. I'm lucky she can sew and draft patterns from whatever idea I come up with. She made my bright vinyl faux snakeskin dress, and a few other dresses. The fabric of this dress is actually meant for upholstery, but I love that it's out of an unconventional fabric for clothing.

Do you make any special pieces?

I also sew so I made a black dress and completely covered it in safety pins. I saw a similar dress on a vintage instagram account and thought, "I can do that!" It's taken quite a few hours to pin them all on the dress, but it turned out really cool. I also made the guys and myself all t-shirts with one of our song titles on it with iron on letters. I chose "Worship the Whip", of course.

Where do you find stage clothes? Any fav shops?
jemina
I mostly buy stuff online, because a lot of stores in Nashville lean country western and that's not my taste. I love The Real Real for finding used designer pieces. I got a rubber dress and a patent leather skirt that I love to wear on stage because of the way the stage lights hit them. I also like to find oversized vintage t-shirts on Etsy that I wear with fishnet tights and my over the knee boots.

Where does your sense of style come from? Any special sources of inspiration?
jemina
I find a lot of inspiration from Vivienne Westwood designs for Sex and Seditionaries. I love all the rubber fetish wear inspired clothing she made then. I also love the look of a dominatrix, like the designs Karl Lagerfield did for the movie Maitresse. 70's and 80's punk musicians also influence my style. I love that Belinda Carlisle would wear a plastic trash bag as a dress, or Poison Ivy's patent leather and leopard print. Never enough leather and leopard print.
