Bloghouse Starter Pack
by Mo

Like indie sleaze, the term bloghaus was created by modern music fans to box in a slippery moment in history. Our Dear Millennial readers might experience whiplash just reading about it. Blog Haus generally refers to indie-leaning dance music from 2006ish to 2010ish. At the time, there was a thriving scene of niche online publications + DJs on Myspace that would post free downloads of remixes of hipster hits. Some were unauthorized remixes of indie bands, some were remixes of rap songs, some were original dance songs without samples at all. The most famous example of this “genre” is the A-Trak remix of Yeah Yeah Yeahs “Heads Will Roll” but here are some bloghaus hits that you may not know:

Gossip - Standing in the Way of Control (Soulwax Nite Version)
Little Boots - Stuck On Repeat (Fake Blood Mix)
MSTRKRFT - Heartbreaker (feat. John Legend)
Kid Cudi - Day ‘N’ Nite (Crookers Remix)
Justice Vs Simian - We Are Your Friends
Feist - 1, 2, 3, 4 (Van She Tech Remix)
Uffie - Pop The Glock
